I was traveling most of this week for work, visiting Duke’s campus in North Carolina—beautiful place, but I’m happy to be back home and playing guitar.
On the plane I listened to a bunch of great albums. I've been getting back into Maze of My Mind by Martin Miller - there are so many great songs on there, and it made me break out my PRS 7 string to play along. I also revisited Vibe Station by Scott Henderson, which is packed with those Jeff Beck style grooves and fusion tone that I always loved while he was in Tribal Tech. And I’ve been checking out all the different solo work from Brent Hinds since his recent Mastodon departure - the dude can really play.
Next week, we’ll be back to a regular issue with lessons, links and commentary. This week I’m taking a short break to rest up and recharge. Also heading out to a guitar store in a minute to play some acoustics and see if anything clicks with me.
In the meantime, hit reply and let me know - what albums have you been listening to lately? I’m always on the hunt for something new and inspiring to play along with.
